Rocco Derrigo

General Manager

Rocco joined AEM in January of 2019 bringing 34 years of experience in the New England Building Controls Market.  Rocco started his career in Building Automation as a field service technician and moved into sales and sales management.  Rocco has a broad range of experience including running his own business, territory sales, national account sales, and area management roles with both independent and multinational controls organizations.  Rocco is active in the AEC community currently holding a position on the Board of Directors with the Massachusetts Building Congress (MBC).  He is also a past president of the MBC.  Skilled in managing high performing sales teams, understanding HVAC, building automation, and energy management systems, Rocco has a great understanding of the industry and marketplace.  He is a strong management professional, is LEED® AP and has a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) focused in Business Administration and General Management, from Emmanuel College.

Bill Cronin

Business Unit CFO

Bill joined AEM in April 2018 and serves as the company’s corporate controller. Mr. Cronin has 20+ years of experience in accounting and finance.  Prior to joining AEM, Bill was the Director of Finance of a Real Estate Development Company north of Boston for 14 years, and previously served as a Regional Director of Finance and Operations for a Senior Living developer/operator.  He holds both a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Masters of Business Administration from Bentley College.

David Johnston

vice president, operations

David has been with AEM since the company's infancy and has over 39 years of experience. He began his career working with the assembly and testing of control panels, grew to be a field technician responsible for the startup and commission of DDC control system, and then was promoted to project manager for AEM's premier installations. As VP of Operations, David oversees all of AEM's installations and account service. David is an expert in understanding temperature control problems and provides straight forward solutions. He is AEE certified as a CEM (certified energy manager) and holds a Massachusetts Journeyman Electrical license.

Gerald “Jerry” Keller

vice president, Service

Jerry joined AEM in June of 2021 after Gwynn Systems, Inc., merged with AEM.  He brings 28 years of experience in the HVAC/Building Management field.  Jerry started at Gwynn Systems as a Project Manager and became President of Gwynn less than a decade later.  He has a strong business base in the Boston area and has cultivated many relationships over the years with customers and subcontractors.  Being responsive to the customer’s needs and educating their staff to run an efficient building is part of his mission. Jerry holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts’ Business School in Computer Sales.

Steve Cunningham

Vice President, Sales

Steve is a dedicated energy management/building automation expert with over 40 years’ experience in the industry, including 37 years with AEM, serving at times in field service, project management, energy engineering and sales.   In his role as service manager, he worked extensively with clients on energy optimization strategy, helping to deliver millions in energy savings.  For the past 10+ years, in his role as Vice President of Sales, he has overseen the development of projects in a range of markets including retail, health care, office/industrial, institutional and education.  He’s AEE certified as a CEM (certified energy manager) and holds his Massachusetts Journeyman and Master Electrician licenses.

James Thyne

Manager of software and engineering

Jim started with AEM in 1984 in the production department and as a field technician. Jim quickly acquired the experience and education necessary to advance into project management and control engineering.  Jim’s real-world knowledge of HVAC design, control integration, computerized hardware and software made him a great candidate to lead AEM’s design standards.  Jim currently manages the Software and Engineering department and runs many of AEM’s larger projects across the country.  As a leader within AEM Jim strives for excellence, mentor’s others, leads by example, and sets a high standard for the entire company.
